Everyone has been impacted by COVID-19. While we all want to reconnect fully with our friends and family, many people are experiencing anxiety. Very often in life we have two conflicting parts or feelings related to change. A part of us wants to go back to the way things were, but for some there is another part that is anxious about what “normal” will be like. We have grown accustomed to spending more time with family at home and working remotely. Support, and in some cases outside help, will be required to overcome the fear of going back to normal.
Social Interaction
While it may seem like we should all be able to just pick up where we left off, many people are anxious about social interactions when the pandemic is behind us in the future. This can include in person work related meetings, team building events, as well as spontaneous interactions. Many of us have grown accustomed to connecting online where we don’t always have to engage directly, and in some cases can turn off the camera. Finally, there is the fear of not wearing a mask and feeling exposed.
Commuting
In the coming months our commute will change from getting up and showering before turning on the laptop, back to the long ride to and from work. The pandemic has shown us how much time we really spend traveling back and forth to the office. Whether you are looking forward to going back to the office or not, few people miss the commute. Whatever freedom and convenience working remotely has given us, may be gone.
Back to the Office
Going back to the office will mean a return to greater accountability and in some cases micromanagement. There is a difference between speaking to a supervisor in person versus on a call. It will also mean interacting with coworkers who we may not particularly like. It is also only a matter of time before employees will be required to give in-person presentations. Those who have a fear of public speaking have been given a reprieve during the pandemic.
Hypnosis to Overcome the Fear of Going Back to Normal
Hypnotherapy is an excellent way to address fear and anxiety as well as to shift perspective. We all know that some people see the glass as being half empty. Hypnotic programming helps clients see this return to normal as a positive experience. The unconscious mind is taught to focus on the positive aspects of what a return to normalcy will mean.
Addressing Anxiety
Fears and phobias related to public speaking and socializing can be overcome. Events from the past related to speaking, that may be holding you back, can be identified and reframed. Once these events from the past are released, clients find that they are able to present and socialize with confidence. Regardless of what may be triggering your anxiety, hypnotherapy can help. Overcome the fear of going back to normal by utilizing hypnosis to reprogram your inner mind for confidence and a sense of security.
