How to Overcome Sensitivity to Noise with Hypnosis

Our world is full of noise. Refrigerators hum, clocks tick, fans whir. Outside there are sirens, airplanes and cars and trucks whizzing by on the highways or streets nearby. Our modern world is full of noise. Add in people laughing, children shrieking, babies crying, radios blaring and you have a lot of noise. It can even add up to medical problems. For some people it is hard to block out the noise naturally. Overcome sensitivity to noise with hypnosis can help.

A Mental Condition

A mental condition called mysophonia is a bad reaction to a single sound or to a kind of sound. It doesn’t have to be loud. Sometimes it is something quiet, like the sound of someone chewing or clearing their throat a lot. Mild responses include irritation, anxiety, and general stress. If the condition progresses it can move up into health threatening stress illnesses such as high blood pressure, or into outbursts of anger, or even suicidal responses. The worst part about it is that it seems to the person who has mysophonia as if this situation is going to go on and on forever with no foreseeable way out.

Change is Possible

There is hope. Sometimes it is a simple change, such as moving away from a busy airport or railroad crossing. But if it is a person you care about making the noise such as someone who snores. Or if it is a noise that is needed for their health, such as a noisy oxygen tank or breathing machine, then distance isn’t a good way to solve the problem.

Overcome Sensitivity to Noise with Hypnosis

Hypnotherapy used by a trained specialist can help,  as can counseling to explore the root causes of the response. Noise sensitivity hypnosis is designed to help you be less sensitive to the sound that is bothering you. It is somewhat like people who move into a house near a railroad track and are constantly wakened by the passing trains in their first weeks they live there. But by the time they move out, perhaps a year or two later, the trains are simply part of the background noise for their home.

Emotional Response to Sounds

Hearing involves a great deal more than your ears and the thinking part of your brain. Sounds affect your emotional centers. That is what causes you to start up wide awake when a loud train whistle goes by at 2:00AM and you are not used to it. Anxiety triggers can be made up of more than just the sound. If the crunching and lip smacking during a meal is irritating to you, perhaps you also connect the sounds with the sight of the person chewing with an open mouth – a sight that makes you feel a little sick.

Noise sensitivity hypnosis helps you identify the feelings associated with the sound that you find so upsetting. It can help you learn to relax and get past them, and to let go of the scared or angry feelings. The goal is to work with the sounds so that you become like the person who has lived next to a railroad track all his life and feels comfortable with the sounds of the trains going by at all hours. You become desensitized to the sound or, like the woman who grumbled about her husband’s snoring, you eventually even miss it when it is not there. Overcome sensitivity to noise with hypnosis today and get the peace you deserve.
